ANNOUNCEMENT! Virtual Student RecitalWe at the Mississauga Fine Arts Academy pride ourselves on being able to offer all the things that we can for our students. One of the things that always has us at our best is our student recitals! With everything going on in the world, we want to make sure that our school is a positive place for each of our students and their families to come to every week. With that, we thought it would be a shame not to do our recitals for students! And after seeing the success of our online faculty concert, we felt like this was the next best step. On July 11th and 12th we will be streaming our student’s performances to YouTube for all of you to see! All you need to do to participate is let your teacher know you’re interested and prepare the recording! We are hoping to receive all recordings in by June 30th. When your recording is done please email it to us. If the file is too big for email, you can use a website such as WeTransfer to send larger files. If you need any assistance please let us know and we will see what we can do to help! This virtual recital will be the first of its kind for our students, so we would love to have as many of you participate as possible! We are still looking forward to our next in person recital, but at this point are unsure of when that will be. So please send in those videos so we can see what you’ve all been learning and to show everyone else of all of your talent!
Virtual Faculty Concert highlights! On May 27th, our teachers had so much fun performing some of their favourite pieces for you! This was our first ever VIRTUAL concert, and we appreciate all of your support and hope you had a fantastic time watching and listening. We are extremely grateful for each and every one of you, and we hope this evening of music has inspired you to practice even more! If you’d like to watch the concert again or if you missed it the first time, feel free to click HERE
RCM Exam UpdatesFor many of our students, RCM exams are an integral part of learning music. We, along with the people working with RCM, want to make sure that students are able to continue on with their exams no matter what the situation is. If you had an exam booked and need rescheduling or want any general information about how RCM is handling their exams right now, please check the link here for more information.
As well, a HUGE congratulations to our students that recently passed their exams! The website is still updating, so we will post more of your amazing grades when they are available! David S. – Level 5 Piano – 76%
Chelsea P. – Level 2 Piano – 81%
FREE Master ClassesWe have been having so much fun with our Master Classes, and they have been a HUGE success! Students have been busier than ever this Summer learning everything about music. We even recently had a class where students sang O Canada TOGETHER for an amazing video! If you are interested in signing up for any master classes please contact us at the front desk for more information and scheduling. If you haven’t seen it already, check out our O Canada video coordinated by Ms. Michelle HERE!
Student of the Month – Lukas S.!As the warm Summer weather is rolling in (on most days), it’s important to remember that music is important all year round! This month, we got to speak with one of Nadiya’s brilliant students, Lukas, and learn all about how he keeps practicing every day. Lukas is 8 years old and is very focused and dedicated to learning the piano! We asked Lukas a few questions about himself, and this is what she told us: What instrument do you play? Piano How long have you been taking lessons? Almost three and a half years What’s your favourite song to play? Funny Puppy What is your favourite food? Soup What is your favourite thing you’ve learned in class recently? New songs What is your favourite colour? Blue! We asked Ms. Nadiya to let us know more about Lukas, and she had so many nice words to say about him! She told us that Lukas practices at home every day and is a very independent student. She also told us that he is an incredibly fast learner and always knows what to do to improve. Congratulations on your achievements Lukas, and we look forward to seeing how far you and your brother David can go with the music!
Celebrating YOUR Musical Ladder success! We are having so much fun with our online classes, and are happy that it allows us to continue our Musical Ladder program for students! As many of you have already figured out, we have been sending out the Musical Ladder wristbands in the mail so each of you can celebrate your achievements. For those of you with trophies, we will have them at the school when we go back. However, we would LOVE to celebrate your progress and see pictures of all of you with your wristbands! Feel free to send them to firstname.lastname@example.org or tag us on social media with #MississaugaFineArtsAcademy to show us your smiling faces. Check out some great pictures of Maria and Cheska, don’t they have impressive collections? As a bonus, we’d love to see a picture with ALL of your Musical Ladder wristbands, certificates, and trophies that you have so far! Thank you, everyone, and keep on practicing!
Hope WristbandsIt is with great excitement that we have been able to finally send out our Hope wristbands! These are very special wristbands; they’re limited edition and only for a limited time. We want to inspire you to have ‘HOPE’ during these challenging times, and also to play more music. These wristbands will be sent directly to your house. Feel free to take pictures of your wristbands and send them to us so we can share your hope on our social media!
An update on Picture DayAs some of you may already know, we love to have our annual picture day every year where our professional photographer comes to the school to take photos of all of our lovely students. Typically this happens towards the end of May, however, as we are doing online lessons it wasn’t feasible at this time (unless you count our screenshots!). We wanted to make sure to let you know that we are still planning picture day, but do not have a concrete date set yet. The health and safety of our students will always come first, and when it is safe for us to schedule the event then we will let you know. So make sure to keep your dress clothes nice and clean, because we’re hoping to bring Picture Day back as soon as possible!
Special Teachers’ Passion Project!Children are the future of this world. The teachers’ project is created to send a message to the world and bring an awareness of how this world is fragile and that it is in our power to make this world a better place for children and for the future generations. This project is our contribution as a school, as musicians and music educators to the world’s peace. With this, we send our loving thoughts to all people and ignite the light in people’s hearts. One word, one song, one smile, one small action at a time. We look forward to sharing our passion project with you very soon! Here’s to the world’s peace.
